To compliment the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) activities that Australian Aerospace Engineering Pty Ltd (AAE) offers, AAE has become a stocking distributor of aerospace hardware and supplies. AAE’s offering is supported through Monroe Aerospace, one of the largest stocking distributors of aircraft hardware in the USA.
Engineering and sales manager Viv Johnston said “the idea of becoming a stocking distributor of aircraft hardware was birthed from the difficulty we experience in getting local stock for our MRO activities. We’ve learned that this is a challenge experienced by other Australian MRO’s and aircraft operators, and so we’ve decided to meet the need”.
The hardware product offering is hosted on a new eCommerce website (AAE eStore) allowing customers to view the current stock holding both locally and in the USA, as well as the relevant tier based price. The site was launched in April 2017 and represents a significant milestone in a long and complex process of establishing an efficient and relevant hardware store in Australia.
Director and CEO Colin Johnston said “our approach to the hardware business is unique in that we are offering customers an efficient digital means of researching, buying and monitoring delivery of aircraft fasteners and supplies across Australia”. Having recently achieved our CASA Part 145 approval for our MRO operations, we are excited to further expand our service and product offering to Defence and industry with the AAE eStore, Colin said.
One of AAE’s early successes has been becoming a preferred supplier to a local Defence prime. “I was fortunate enough to visit the facility of a local Defence prime, and when they learned of our hardware offering they quickly engaged AAE to supply their aerospace fasteners and electrical components,” said Viv. That’s the interesting and motivating part about supplying these products; you become a small part of a much bigger story, and we are looking forward to working with Defence and industry into the future, said Viv.
